The Secret tool I use to Help Clients Find Hidden Triggers (No Blood Tests Required)

If I had a dollar for every client who told me:

“My doctor says nothing is showing on my test results but I still feel awful.”

…I’d probably be writing this from a beach somewhere with a sparkling water and orange slice in hand. 😅

Many women with autoimmune symptoms like fatigue, bloating, brain fog, joint and muscle pain, and inflammation are often dismissed because standard testing doesn’t always tell the full story.

That’s why one of the most powerful tools I use in my practice is surprisingly simple:

✨ A Food, Mood & Poop Journal

No fancy trackers.
No calorie counting.
No expensive testing required.

Just real-life patterns, hidden clues, and your body finally getting a chance to speak up.

And trust me… your poop has a LOT to say.

Why I Use Food, Mood & Poop Tracking in My Practice

Most people are disconnected from how food actually affects them.

We’re so used to:

  • eating when the clock decides

  • pushing through exhaustion

  • normalizing bloating and backaches

  • and ignoring symptoms…

…that we stop seeing the connections.

But when clients begin tracking:

  • what they eat

  • how they feel

  • and what’s happening in the bathroom

patterns start appearing fast.

This tool helps us uncover:

  • foods that may be triggering those aches and pains

  • energy crashes

  • digestive upset like gas, bloating, food babies

  • anxiety and sleeplessness

  • and lifestyle habits contributing to symptoms

And the best part?

👉 Your body gives us the data naturally.

No needles required.

Wait… Why Poop?

Because your poop is basically a daily health report card. 💩

I know it sounds funny, but stool patterns can tell us a LOT about:

  • how your body is liking or not liking the food you choose

  • the integrity of your gut in what symptoms show up

  • low grade inflammation causing a cascade of symptoms

  • hydration

  • stress levels

  • food intolerances

  • and whether your body is eliminating waste properly

Inside the journal, I have clients use the Bristol Stool Chart to identify stool types and patterns. We also track:

  • ease or difficulty going

  • urgency

  • color

  • bloating

  • gas

  • and anything unusual

And no, we’re not obsessing over it.

We’re simply gathering information with curiosity instead of judgment.

“Mood” Means More Than Emotions

This is where things get really interesting.

When I say “mood,” I don’t just mean whether you felt happy or grumpy.

We track:

  • energy levels

  • headaches

  • brain fog

  • irritability

  • joint pain

  • skin flare-ups

  • sleep quality

  • cravings

  • anxiety

  • and even things like swollen fingers or forgetfulness.

Because symptoms are communication.

Your body is constantly leaving breadcrumbs, we just haven’t been taught how to notice them.

The Goal Isn’t Perfection—It’s Awareness

One thing I emphasize heavily with clients:

🚫 This is NOT about food guilt
🚫 This is NOT another restrictive diet
🚫 This is NOT calorie counting

It’s about becoming a detective instead of a critic.

We gather information first. No judgment. No overanalyzing. Just observation.

Then we get curious.

For example:

  • Did your fatigue spike after skipping protein at breakfast?

  • Do certain foods correlate with bloating or joint pain?

  • Are poor sleep nights followed by sugar cravings and constipation?

  • Do stress-filled days impact digestion?

These are the patterns that blood work often misses.

Why This Matters for Autoimmune Healing

Autoimmune symptoms rarely happen in isolation.

Your gut, blood sugar, nervous system, hormones, stress levels, and digestion are all connected.

And when we start identifying YOUR personal triggers and patterns, healing becomes far more targeted and effective.

Instead of guessing…
Instead of Googling…
Instead of trying another trendy supplement…

…you begin learning how your own body responds.

That’s powerful.

The Most Important Part? Compassion.

I always remind my clients:

This process works best with gentle curiosity, not shame.

Your journal isn’t there to prove you’re “good” or “bad.”

It’s there to help you reconnect with your body in a way most women never have before.

And often, those tiny daily observations become the missing puzzle pieces that finally help everything click.
